The awards winners were announced on Wednesday by the Jury at a ceremony held in Rabat in the presence of minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Othman El Ferdaous , as well as several high-profile figures from the world of culture, arts, litterature and media.
The honorary award, which pays tribute to a personality from the media world who contributed to the evolution of the national media landscape and the promotion of the lofty principles of the profession, was awarded posthumously to late Noureddine Sail, former director of 2M TV Channel and of former head of the Moroccan Center for Cinematography.
The television award was won by Nawal El Kerrari (SNRT), while the radio award went to Farida Errahmani (SNRT).
The print press award was won by journalist Redouane Mabchour of "Al Ayam" Weekly, while, in the electronic press category, the award went to journalist Mohamed Erraji (Hespress).
The investigation prize was awarded to journalist Adil Benmoussa (2M).
The Amazigh press prize was awarded jointly to journalist Zahra Ouhssain (SNRT) and journalist Samir Lamkadem (Amazigh TV Channel).
The Hassani journalistic production award went to journalist El Hafid Mehdar (Laayoune TV/SNRT), while the photography prize was awarded to Ahmed Akil (Bayane Al Yaoume Daily).
Speaking on this occasion, minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stressed that this year's edition comes in exceptional circumstances imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also pointed out that the journalism corps, both in the public and private sector, offers a public service of great importance especially in times of crises, stressing that the press sector has been strongly impacted by the novel coronavirus crisis.
