These archaeological discoveries could date back to the 2nd century BC and even to the Bronze Age (2000 years, from 2700 to 900 BC), according to Redouane Bourga, Founding member and Vice-President of the association.
These precious discoveries are likely to unveil certain mysteries relating to Tighaline, a city submerged under the sea, its borders and the way of life of its inhabitants, he told MAP.
The coast of Safi is rich in archaeological heritage and underwater archaeological treasures that require valorization, Bourga added.
The Association Marocaine pour la Recherche et la Protection Archéologique sous-marine was created in 2013 by scuba-diving fans from Safi with the aim of promoting local heritage through exploration and discovery.
