In a speech at a virtual conference organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), based in Washington, on the sidelines of the 75th UNGA, Elalamy noted that the continent African is a real reserve of natural resources, competences, and senior technicians.
Elalamy cited Morocco as an example, recalling that from the onset of the epidemic, HM King Mohammed VI mobilized the entire industrial sector to assist the medical sector in facing this unprecedented crisis.
"Morocco, which produced absolutely no masks, began to manufacture 17 million masks a day for a population of 36 millions. We discovered engineers in the aeronautical sector who manufactured one of the most efficient respirators in the world with a 3% margin of error", noted the Minister during this session held under the theme "Partnership for economic recovery: Morocco".
In addition to respirators, the automotive and aeronautical sectors have joined forces to produce thermometers and infrared cameras, and recently the PCR test manufactured by Moroccan engineers and which is now operational, he added.
"Last week, during a visit to France, I discovered that the famous saliva test presented in France was manufactured in Morocco in Tangier. This is to underline the manufacturing capacity of African Moroccan human resources", noted Elalamy.
The minister seized the opportunity of this conference, marked by the participation of the American Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, to highlight the "exceptional relationship" between Morocco and the United States, calling for strengthening this partnership and making the Kingdom “a platform of complementarity with the United States”.
"The Kingdom wants to be a country which is innovative and have quality human resources," he said.
A group of political decision-makers and figures from the economic and financial sphere took part in this CCA conference, which is part of a series of sessions dedicated to investment on the continent.
