This operation, carried out on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the general Directorate for territorial surveillance (DGST), led to the seizure of 2.3 tons of chira at the farm and to the arrest of the guard and a second individual, suspected of being the main person involved in this trafficking, who was in possession of a large sum of money allegedly originated from this criminal activity.
In a statement to MAP, police commissioner Khalid Alaoui Abdellaoui, head of the communication unit at the Fez police prefecture, stressed that this operation is part of the efforts made by the national police (DGSN) to fight all forms of crime, including drug trafficking.
The two suspects were arrested for drug trafficking, based on detailed information provided by the DGST services, he added, noting that the first individual was arrested in the center of M'Haya, located about 10 km from Fez.
He indicated that the Fez judicial police also arrested in the city the main suspect in this case, on board a car, and seized mobile phones.
The individuals arrested in connection with this case have been placed in police custody to complete the preliminary investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor's office in order to determine the potential ramifications and links of these cases at the national and international levels and to arrest all participants and accomplices in this criminal network.
