In addition to containment and measures to protect the economy, notably through the creation of a dedicated fund and the establishment of a system of direct aid to affected populations, Morocco has mobilized its industrial ecosystem by redirecting factories towards the production of protective masks, hydro-alcoholic gel and medical equipment, the review wrote.
"By combining the strengths of the aeronautics industry and the scientists of its universities, the country has also produced its own artificial respirator," said the publication, highlighting the strategy pursued under the aegis of the Sovereign, which is based on maximum prevention.
Also, in order to avoid the saturation of its hospitals, Morocco has taken up the challenge of producing its own equipment locally. Within a few weeks, the country was able to achieve a daily production of more than 3 million masks, and from 7 April it introduced the compulsory wearing of masks in public spaces as a preventive measure to limit the spread of the virus.
The Kingdom is even beginning to "explore the possibility of exporting its surplus to European countries," the publication added, quoting a statement by minister of Industry, Trade and the Green and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
These protective masks are now distributed in 70,000 local shops and supermarkets throughout the country, with a price capped at 80 cents each, thanks to subsidies granted by the special covid-19 fund, initiated by the Sovereign to fight the pandemic.
The publication also highlighted the production by an industrial unit of Kénitra, launched in one week, of 24,000 liters per day of ethanol, a component necessary for the manufacture of disinfectant products.
Moreover, the review mentioned the manufacture of 500 respirators 100% Moroccan made, bringing together researchers, engineers, doctors and industry leaders.
