Violation of State of Health Emergency: 2,268 Individuals Arrested in Past 24 Hours, Police

Rabat - The security operations carried out to impose the state of health emergency decreed to stop the spread of the pandemic of new coronavirus (Covid-19) helped arrest, during the past 24h, 2.268 individuals, including 1.402 who were remanded in police custody for preliminary investigations ordered by the public prosecution, said the national police (DGSN), adding that the other arrested persons were subjected to the procedures of investigation, checking and identity verification.

In a press release, the DGSN said that the security operations carried out to impose the application of the measures of the state of emergency, since the date of its declaration by the public authorities, resulted in the arrest of a total 26,579 individuals in all of the Kingdom's cities, including 14,143 who were brought before the public prosecution after the police custody procedure.

These arrests are distributed according to police prefectures and regional and provincial police services as follows: Casablanca police prefecture (4,033), Rabat police prefecture (3,513), Kenitra police prefecture (3,149), Oujda police prefecture (2.696), Marrakech police prefecture (2.408), Agadir police prefecture (2.127), Salé provincial police (1.953), Beni Mellal police prefecture (973), Fez police prefecture (913), Meknes police prefecture (742), Tétouan police prefecture (586), provincial police of Ouarzazate (561), provincial police of El Jadida (550), Settat police prefecture (527), provincial police of Errachidia (446), Tangier police prefecture (444), Laayoune police prefecture (393), provincial police of Safi (242), regional police of Taza (204) and regional police of Al Hoceima (119).

The DGSN ensured, in this context, that its services will continue to intensify control operations at the level of all cities and to coordinate their interventions with the various public authorities with a view to imposing the strict and correct application of the state of emergency to guarantee the health security of all citizens.
