This royal visit is part of the Sovereign's continued interest and high concern for the officials of the DGST, and the consideration shown by HM the King for the tireless efforts and considerable sacrifices made by the members of this security institution to guarantee the peace and security of citizens, protect their property and preserve peace, stability and public order, as well as for the spirit of mobilization, vigilance and firmness demonstrated by its members in order to anticipate and foil all abject terrorist and criminal conspiracies against the Kingdom.
This visit also testifies to HM the King's concern to provide this security institution with the necessary means to accomplish its national and professional mission.
In the 2016 Throne speech, HM the King had urged the government to provide the security institution with all the necessary human and financial resources to enable it to properly carry out its missions.
HM the King reviewed a detachment of honor of the National Security before being greeted by the minister of the Interior, the Director general of National Security and Surveillance of the national Territory, as well as by several high-ranking personalities and officials of the central administration of the DGST.
HM the King inquired about units of the rapid reaction group under the DGST and reviewed the equipment, vehicles and logistics used in intervention operations to deal with the dangers of the terrorist threat and the various forms of organized crime, including cross-border crime.
Afterwards, HM the King inaugurated the new specialized training Institute and visited its various components. It is an integrated security complex built as part of the development of the intelligence training system, on a total area of 35,000 m2, and essentially comprising a conference amphitheater, eleven study rooms, a laboratory for teaching foreign languages, a conference room, a library, in addition to infrastructure for trainers and administrative staff.
This institute also includes a reception and residence area equipped with all the necessary services, with rooms reserved for nationals of brotherly and friendly countries, in particular African States, who are invited to benefit from advanced intelligence training, as part of the strengthening of international security cooperation.
This facility is also equipped with an armory that meets the required standards for sensitive security buildings, an ammunition depot, a shooting range, and an obstacle course for training and endurance exercises practiced by officials of the security institution.
During this visit, explanations were provided to HM the King on the new infrastructure inaugurated as part of the royal vision for modernizing public security and strengthening the principles of the new security governance.
The Sovereign also inquired about the project for the construction of medical analysis laboratory for National Security and National Territory Surveillance officials, currently under construction in Rabat, which is likely to strengthen the medical and health services offered to security officials.
Furthermore, a note presenting structuring projects carried out at the level of the DGSN (national police) was presented to the Sovereign, notably the construction of the new headquarters of the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ) and the national forensic laboratory.
During this visit to the DGST, HM the King inquired about the activities of the central operations directorates, in particular those responsible for combating extremism, terrorism and the various forms of organized crime, and heard explanations on the working methodologies and investigative and intelligence techniques that make it possible to establish peace in its broadest conception, anticipate dangers and address the challenges that threaten the security of the Kingdom and its citizens.
