On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa delivered a speech in which she stressed that "the praise this program has received at the international level never was an end in itself. In fact, it has provided an incentive to build on what has been achieved and to continue improving this model program in order to ensure sustainability."
"Considering the success of this program and the positive reactions at the national, regional and international levels, and in order to promote he exchange of expertise and experience between the stakeholders involved in the area of environmental education, Morocco will, under the high patronage of His Mejesty King Mohammed VI and in partnership with our Foundation, have the honor of hosting the Seventh World Environmental Education Congress in June 2013," announced HRH the Princess
This Congress will, thus, be held for the first time in an Arab or Islamic country with the participation of representatives from 80 countries, added the Princess.
On this occasion, Achim Steiner, United Nations Environment Programme Executive Director commended the success of the Young Reporters for the Environment Programme and highlighted the efforts led by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa to promote environmental education.
He also underscored the key importance of the partnership binding the UN Environment Programme and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment.
The ceremony also featured the projection of Leila Ghandi’s documentary on the ten-year experience of the program.
On the same occasion, the recommendations of the Forum on education and sensitizing to responsible consumption were presented. The event was held on Saturday as part of the celebration of the program’s tenth anniversary.
Afterwards, the 2012 winners of the Young Reporters for the Environment competition (45 students and 10 teachers) were introduced to HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa.
HRH the Princess also conferred awards to the members of the jury and attended an exhibition themed "another look at the environment".
