These meetings are part of the consultations and hearings carried out by the Body with the various stakeholders, in accordance with the Content of the Royal Letter addressed to the Head of Government for the Family Code revision.
The Kingdom’s Ombudsman, Mohamed Benalilou, told the press that the Institution has presented its vision concerning the Family Code reform, noting that these proposals are based on guaranteeing the rights of users of public services.
To this end, the Institution has focused on three approaches: the first is to ensure equality and justice for all components of the family without any discrimination, the second aims to preserve the child’s best interests, while the third has to with simplifying procedures relating to the management of family relationships at the level of public services, he explained.
In the Royal Letter to the Head of Government, HM King Mohammed VI stressed the necessity of reviewing the Family Code, which has played a crucial role in fostering positive change and establishing a new concept of family equality and balance. This has led to significant social progress, addressing the shortcomings revealed during its judicial implementation.
The Sovereign underscored that the Family Code's provisions "must also align with the evolution of Moroccan society and the requirements of sustainable development," noting that "the new version will thus be in harmony with the progress of our national legislation."
