The Coalition's national Coordinator, Bouchra Abdou, said in a statement to the press at the end of the meeting that the Coalition wanted the revision to cover several articles of the Family Code, adding that its proposals had been formulated on the basis of expectations expressed by women in listening centers and various multifunctional spaces, and reports from lawyers active within the Coalition.
She noted, in this regard, that the proposals put forward by the Coalition meet the "urgent and effective needs" of women, men and the family as a whole.
Coalition member Saida El Idrissi stressed the importance of revising the Family Code on the basis of the Royal High Guidelines, the 2011 Constitution and human rights principles, in line with the international conventions ratified by Morocco.
This meeting with the "Women's Coalition for a Family Code based on equality and dignity" is part of a series of consultations and listening sessions held by the Body with the various players concerned, with a view to implementing the contents of the Royal Letter on the revision of the Family Code, addressed to the Head of Government.
