In total, 20 tonnes and 816 kilograms of chira, kif and tobacco, 100,000 psychotropic tablets and more than 540 grams of cocaine and heroin were destroyed during these operations, the regional directorate said in a statement.
Last week, 2,045 kg of chira, 376 kg of kif, 671 kg of tobacco powder, 74 kg of tobacco leaves, 8,114 psychotropic tablets, 5.3 kg of "maâjoune" and over 202 grams of cocaine were destroyed by the customs services of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region.
This operation was carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecutor in the presence of representatives of local authorities and security services concerned.
The drugs were destroyed through incineration and were seized during operations conducted by customs services, the Gendarmerie Royale and the National Police as part of the fight against crimes of possession, consumption and marketing of narcotics, and international drug trafficking.
