Tetouan Province: New Human and Technical Reinforcements to Contain Forest Fire That Ravaged 100 Hectares (Local Sources)

Tetouan - The local authorities of the province of Tetouan have mobilized new human and technical reinforcements to contain the fire that broke out in the forest of Beni Ider (Kharroub commune, Caïdat of Jbel Lahbib) and which has ravaged, so far, 100 hectares of forest cover composed of conifers and secondary plant species, without causing any human casualties, local sources said.

These new reinforcements have enabled 20 aerial operations to drop water through 4 aircraft type "Turbo Trush", as well as 247 people among the inhabitants of 4 douars near the fire sites have been evacuated to safe places, according to the same sources.

The local authorities had mobilized ground intervention teams composed of elements of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Auxiliary Forces, the Civil Protection and the Water and Forestry services, in addition to local authorities, agents of the National Promotion and volunteers from the population of the region.

They had stressed that all human resources and all means will remain strongly mobilized until the final control of fires.
