Security Services Thwart Attempt to Smuggle 67 kg of Cocaine at Tangier's Port

Rabat - National security elements at the port of Tangier city thwarted, on Monday evening, an attempt to smuggle 67 kilograms of cocaine on board a utility vehicle registered abroad and coming from a Spanish port, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.

Search operation carried out by trained police dogs, as well as the automated control procedures conducted in coordination with the customs services, led to the seizure of the banned substance which was carefully concealed in the car, the same source added.

The driver of the car, a 49-year-old Moroccan citizen living in France, was arrested and taken into custody pending the judicial inquiry conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office.
