Held under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this session is organized under the theme "living in a healthy environment: a right and a responsibility", with the aim of giving concrete substance to the laudable initiative of Princess Lalla Meryem and Princess Lalla Hasna seeking to include the theme of environment in the priorities of the Children's Parliament.
During this meeting, Princesse Lalla Meryem read a message sent by HM King Mohammed VI to the participants in the session.
In this message, HM the King commended the positive results achieved, through the regional sessions and the field studies held by the Children's Parliament over the past two years, in the monitoring of the actual situation of children's rights in all constituencies, in towns and villages across the Kingdom.
The Sovereign also commended the great maturity and sense of responsibility demonstrated by the members of the Children’s Parliament through their positive contributions in local, regional and international campaigns to mobilize people, promote environmental awareness and protect the environment.
The Monarch said he was sure that their active, sincere involvement in this regard will help with the preparation of the National Charter for the environment and sustainable development.
Afterwards, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdelouahed Radi gave a speech in which he expressed his esteem for Princess Lalla Meryem for her laudable initiatives and efficient approaches in the different areas.
Radi highlighted the Sovereign’s solicitude and steadfast support for the Children’s Parliament since its launch, as well as the interest its chairwoman Princess Lalla Meryem takes in backing its works and monitoring its decisions and proposals.
The Children’s Parliament has a become an institution focusing on the concerns and expectations of the upcoming generations in terms of a democratic participation based on citizenship, commitment to the rights and duties of human beings, and awareness of the virtues of dialogue, openness and tolerance, he said.
Minister in charge of relations with the Parliament Driss Lachguar gave a presentation on the results of government actions in fields brought up at the previous Children’s Parliament session, namely the sectors of social development, family and solidarity, youth and sports, employment and vocational training, communication, national education and health.
During this meeting, attended by government members, child MP Dinia Belmahjoub gave a speech, on behalf of the Children’s Parliament, wherein she hailed efforts made by Princess Lalla Meryem to promote the situation of Moroccan children.
Princess Lalla Meryem followed the question session of the children MPs concerning matters related mainly to the ministries of Interior, Justice, Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, Health, National education and Moroccan expatriates.
Princess Lalla Meryem visited an exhibition organized by the children on the theme of environment.
