Morocco Gets Observer Status at Consultative Council of European Prosecutors

Rabat - The Committee of Ministers, the Council of Europe's statutory decision-making body, unanimously accepted on Thursday Morocco's request to obtain an observer status at the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE).

According to a statement from the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office, this unprecedented decision, which acknowledges the efforts the latter has made, is likely to enable it, through a legal status within the CCPE, to benefit from its expertise, mechanisms and advisory opinions.

Although its independence from the executive branch has only been established recently, the public prosecutor's office has confirmed its status at the national level and spread the Moroccan experience internationally, the statement said.

The work of the CCPE is aimed at developing common political and judicial instruments relating to the functioning and professional activities of prosecutors.
