VAR to be Used at Africa Cup of Nations from Quarter-finals Onwards
Djibouti City - The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will use the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) from the quarter-finals onwards, said Chairman of the Confederation of African Football referees committee, Suleiman Hassan Waberi.
Waberi, who was speaking during a visit to Djibouti by CAF president Ahmad Ahmad, said African referees attended a recent VAR training camp in South Africa.
FIFA introduced VAR during last year's World Cup in Russia.
The 2019 AFCON will be held from June 21 to July 19 in Egypt.
