The Oncology Centre will offer medical care cancer patients in the Laayoune-Sakia Al Hamra region. It will accommodate more than 2,000 patients per year.
Laayoune's Oncology Center includes units for consultation, radiotherapy treatment and chemotherapy (day hospital), a pharmacy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy hospital services, in addition to an administration and general services.
Concerning Laayoune’s House of Life, it will accommodate 500 patients along with their family members, who come from remote areas.
The two facilities are worth 57 million dirhams, while the cost of their equipment is estimated at 20 million dirhams.
Both projects were carried out thanks to a fundraiser of the gala evening, organized by the Lalla Salma Foundation in Marrakech on October 3, 2015.
The creation of the Regional Oncology Center is part of the national plan for the prevention and control of cancer.
Upon her arrival, Princess Lalla Salma reviewed a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces who made honors, before being notably greeted by health minister, Houssaine Louardi, and the Wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia Al Hamra region, governor of the Laayoune province, Sidi Hamdi Oueld Errachid.
